SHELL CATALYSTS, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, AND THE USE THEREOF

The invention relates to a shell catalyst with a core and at least one shell surrounding the core, said core being composed of an inert carrier material, and the at least one shell being composed of a porous carrier substance. The shell is physically adhered to the core and the at least one shell contains a catalytically active metal selected from the group of metals of the 10th and 11th group of the periodic table of elements in a finely divided form, or a precursor of the catalytically active metal in a uniformly divided form. The inventive shell catalyst is suitable for reducing unsaturated hydrocarbons a nd allows for better selectivities in comparison with shell catalysts known so far. The invention further relates to a method for producing the inventive shell catalyst.
