An information display apparatus operable in such a case wherein the information for specifying the picture information to be displayed is distributed along with the main display information and wherein the picture information specified is acquired through a path different from the supply path of the main display information. The information display apparatus includes an information extraction unit and a display controller. The information extraction unit extracts, from the main display information, the picture specifying information and the picture information, the main display information and the picture specifying information, while acquiring, from an information source lying in a separate information path of a transmission form different from the form in which the main display information is transmitted, the picture information including the related information corresponding to the picture specifying information.
