The invention relates to an engine (1), especially an internal combustion engine, consisting of at least one cylinder (3) in which at least one piston (4) is slidingly disposed. The capacity of the cylinder (3) or a cubic capacity of the engine (1) and/or the compression is adjusted via a deflection device (7). An ignition device (6) is provided for igniting the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber (5) of the cylinder (3). The deflection device (6) is configured as an adjuster arm (10). The piston (4) is linked with the adjuster arm (10) of the mechanical deflection device (7) via a connecting rod (9), the adjuster arm (10) in turn being linked with the crankshaft (8) via another connecting rod (14). The entire adjuster arm (10) can be adjusted with respect to its angle of pitch and/or its position via a swiveling axis (13) for the variable adjustment of the capacity of the cylinder (3) or the cubic capacity and/or the compression of the cylinder (3). |
