摘要
1,067,243. Automatic steering control. BUNKER-RAMO CORPORATION. Dec. 17, 1964 [Dec. 30, 1963), No. 51433/64. Heading G3R. In an automatic pilot, signals from magnetometers responsive to horizontal components of the earth's magnetic field are applied through feedback amplifiers to control a rudder motor, positional feedback signals from which vary the magnetic field in the vicinity of the magnetometers. In Fig. 6 (not shown), a pair of flux gate magnetometers 31, 32 are pivoted to remain in a horizontal position on a ship and adjusted so that they will point in an E-W direction when the ship is heading in a desired direction. The magnetometers are energized intermittently by an oscillator 44 and their outputs are separately rectified by diodes 55, 55' and amplified by transistors 53, 61 when heading deviation is sufficient to produce signals large enough to overcome the bias applied by a threshold circuit 47. Feedback is applied to the magnetometer windings through resistors 57, 64 and, since the windings are opposed, this results in one feedback being positive and the other negative to cause one or other of two relays 56, 65 to operate according to the sense of deviation so that a rudder servomotor 50 is operated in the appropriate direction to correct the deviation. A potentiometer 51b, operated with the rudder, provides negative feedback for application to auxiliary windings 52a, 58a associated with the magnetometers to make rudder deflection proportional to heading deviation. A variable resistance may be included in the last-mentioned feedback circuit to enable the amount of feedback to be adjusted to suit the response of the system.
