PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a printing method suitable for high speed printing. SOLUTION: A carrying section 112 carries a print medium 113, a print head 110 prints a character or a figure on the print medium 113 by driving print elements corresponding to a plurality of colors, a moving section 111 moves the print head 110 in a direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the print medium 113, a plurality of image storing sections 109 store information concerning to where each print element is driven or not, a logical operating section 102 operates information being stored in the image storing sections 109 logically, an operation results storing section 114 receives information concerning to whether at least any one of the plurality of print elements is driven or not and stores received information in correspondence with the position of the print head 110, a moving range acquiring section 102 acquires a range where the print head 110 must be moved from information stored at the operation results storing section 114, and a movement control section 102 drives the moving section 111 such that the print head 110 moves in the acquired range. |
