PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control a small ejection quantity by attaining a wide range for controlling an ink supplying pump and to particularly improve quality of a low density image when the image is formed by a pre-mix method. SOLUTION: In an image forming method, a plural kinds of inks are ejected from ink ejection nozzles by changing a mixing ratio based on an image signal and are transferred to an image receptor that relatively moves with respect to the ink ejection nozzles. At least one kind of the ink can be supplied from a plurality of ink supplying pumps and each of the ink supplying pumps to be driven can be selected corresponding to the ejection quantity of the one kind of ink. In terms of the plurality of ink supplying pumps provided with respect to the identical kind of ink, one pump can be driven when the ejection quantity of the ink is small and the plurality of pumps can be driven in parallel when the ejection quantity is great. The ejection quantities of the plurality of ink supplying pumps provided with respect to the identical kind of ink can be the same or different from each other.
