PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both a mulching method capable of carrying out a mulching operation of ridges formed by piling soil into a plenty of striped states extremely simply, surely and exceedingly efficiently and an apparatus for spraying a mulch material. SOLUTION: A mulch material 1 is sprayed on ridges 2 formed by piling soil into striped states in the continuous direction of the ridges. A material obtained by grinding waste paper and mixing the ground waste paper with a binder and an additive is sprayed as the mulch material. In spraying the mulch material 1, the apparatus for spraying the mulch material 1, having an arch shape in the width direction on the ridges 2, equipped with a spraying pipe 3 moving in the continuous direction of the ridges 2 while spraying the mulch material 1 on the ridges 2 is used.
