PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cleaning, sterilizing and filtering apparatus having a long durable period and capable of removing a smell of bleaching powder and trihalomethane contained in tap water, or the like, and capable of suppressing the propagation of bacteria. SOLUTION: The ceramic filter 11 is based on a honeycomb structure 2, which has a large number of axially piercing flow holes 3, 3a, 3b partitioned with partition walls and is characterized by that the partition walls of the flow holes 3, 3a, 3b have a porous structure having communication pores, and predetermined flow holes are sealed at one end parts thereof and the residual flow holes are sealed at other end parts thereof, and has such a structure that filter films 8 constituted of fine activated carbon are formed on one surfaces of the partition walls and the flow holes on the same side as the filter films are filled with coarse activated carbon particles 9 in a charged state. The water cleaning, sterilizing and filtering apparatus consists of the ceramic filters 11, containers 12, 12a, 12b loaded with the ceramic filters 11 and a DC power supply 14 for applying voltage to the coarse activated carbon particles 9, and an anode 15 electrically connected to the power supply 14 is brought into contact with the coarse activated carbon particles 9 and a cathode 16 is provided in close vicinity to the end parts of the honeycomb structures on a side not filled with the coarse activated carbon particles 9.
