PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core for molding a pulp molded product which enables the adjustment of a degree of extension and contraction according to the shape of a container to be molded and possesses durability enabling sufficient endurance to repeated use. SOLUTION: This core is used in a method for producing a pulp molded compact in which an undried molded compact in a wet condition is formed by depositing pulp fiber on the papermaking surface of a papermaking mold, a stretchable hollow core is swollen by supplying a specified fluid into the core and the swollen core presses the undried molded compact in the direction toward the papermaking surface to dehydrate the molded compact. The core is composed of a cylindrical hollow elastic body with its bottom, and has a reinforcing part 4 for adjusting a degree of the extension and contraction of the body as one body.
