PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric discharge machining method capable of performing a discharge machining without step between processes in any condition. SOLUTION: This discharge machining method is used for performing a discharge machining so that a discharge machined surface is flush with a machined surface such as a machine-machined surface. Machined parts 3A, 3B are machined by removal using a discharge electrode 2 having an area twice of the area of the parts 3A, 3B to be machined by discharge, machining progressing speed in a progressing process of the removal machining is measured, and a discharge machining completion point is detected based on variation of the machining progressing speed.
