PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which can execute an accurate printing operation even for a sheet of which the kind can not be specified. SOLUTION: The kind of a sheet held in a holding means is discriminated by a sheet discriminating means 3, and whether or not the sheet discriminated as to the kind is included in the sheet of the specified kind set beforehand is judged by a judging means 10. When the held sheet is not judged to be included in the sheet of the specified kind, the information on that sheet is inputted by a sheet information inputting means 13 and a control means 6 controls a recording operation of a recording means on the basis of the sheet information inputted by the means 13.
