PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal gasification furnace having a water-cooling wall with a reduced required pressure capacity to make the pressure control in the water-cooling wall unnecessary, and to reduce the installation cost, and having reliability by simplifying the operation. SOLUTION: This coal gasification apparatus has the coal gasification furnace 1 having a water-cooling jacket 14 having a gasification furnace 4 and a degradation furnace 3, and arranged in a pressurizing vessel 2. The water-cooling jacket 14 is the one having overflow parts 15 for overflowing the cooling water, installed in the pressurizing vessel 2 side.
