PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power hand tool that has an improved lock mechanism for preventing rotation of a tool shaft. SOLUTION: The power hand tool has a housing 1, an electric motor 2 contained in the housing and provided with a motor shaft 3, a tool shaft 4 attached to the housing and driven by the motor shaft 3 via gearing 5, and a manually operated locking mechanism 6 for preventing rotation of the tool shaft. The locking mechanism operates on the motor shaft.
