PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus constituted so that the control of an operation part is performed by an image forming apparatus main body when an external device is not connected and performed by the image forming apparatus main body or the external device when connected. SOLUTION: At the time of selection of a FAX function, a control path is set from UARTs 406-408 to an operation part control IC 405 on a master side by an operation part control path changeover part 416 and control is performed corresponding to function selection content by a FAX unit. By this control system, processing can be separated so that the control of the main body of the image forming apparatus is performed by a CPU 402 and the control of an operation part is performed by the FAX unit 413 and, therefore, the lowering of performance caused by the connection of the external device can be prevented. Since the lowering of performance by function expansion is not generated and an existing communication circuit is used, the image forming apparatus not bringing about the increase in cost caused by the addition of connector/harness can be provided. |
