METHOD FOR OPENING IRON TAPPING HOLE IN BLAST FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a hole opening time by reducing a wearing a bit and raising a hole opening speed for the opening of a deep iron tapping hole and at a high temperature by boring the tapping hole in a blast furnace with a drill. Generation of lateral holes is reduced because the boring can be continued by solidifying the oozing of molten iron and slag from the lateral hole with a large quantity of mists. SOLUTION: When the iron tapping hole is opened, water is added to blow gas made to flow through the inner part of the drill and also, the added quantity of water is increased during the boring.
