PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink ribbon using method of a thermal transfer printer, capable of certainly holding proper printing quality. SOLUTION: The unwinding quantity TR of a multitime ink ribbon is calculated on the basis of the coordinates XN of the final position of the multitime ink ribbon, which is set when a certain position of the ribbon is set as the origin, and the maximum use number of times of the ribbon at the same place of the ribbon at each time when one printing operation is completed, to unwind the ribbon.
