PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve miniaturization and light weight of a device by reducing the width of a device main body by the amount corresponding to the width of a recovery mechanism without deterioration of the function, and prevent staining of a recording paper by an ink adhered on a cap during paper feeding or recording. SOLUTION: A cap 11 for covering an ejection opening part 60 is disposed within the maximum paper passage width so as to be driven between a sealing position for sealing the ejection opening part and a withdrawal position for enabling the recording paper conveyance. At least a part of a platen in the vicinity of the cap comprises a movable part 48 such that the movable part is withdrawn in the case the cap is at the sealing position, and the movable part is set at a recording paper supporting position in the case the cap is at the withdrawal position.
