A small cog wheel engages with a rack secured to a plate (3) movable along fixed guides inside the machine casing (1). A base plate (2) is fixed to the casing and protrudes out of it. A baking machine, especially for making round tarts or pastries, has an operating lever (6) coupled to a shaft rotatably mounted in a bearing console. A locking plate is mounted on the shaft, along with a large cog wheel that engages with a small cog wheel. The latter engages with a rack secured to a plate movable along fixed guides inside the machine casing. A long base plate is fixed to the casing and protrudes out of it.
