PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of efficiently decomposing tetrachloroethylene being an environmental pollutant and its related compounds with a bacterium by collecting a new gene enzyme for catalyzing dechlorination of tetrachloroethylene. SOLUTION: Tetrachloroethylene, etc., in wide concentrations can be quickly dechlorinated by using a tetrachloroethylene dechlorination enzyme composed of a base sequence of sequence number 1 (refer to the specification) isolated from Disulfitobacterium Y51 strain (FERM BP-7,095) and a tetrachloroethylene dechlorination enzyme composed of an amino acid sequence of sequence number 2 (refer to the specification) encoded by the gene. |
