PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an emergency stop to prevent a suspicious person from using an elevator and coming into an inner part of a building without attracting his attention when he is found at an entrance part of the building under guard. SOLUTION: This emergency stop system for an elevator for making an emergency stop is provided with a terminal device 10 transmitting an abnormal signal by operation, and a control device 20 conducting one of following controls (1) to (3) when receiving the abnormal signal transmitted from the terminal device Q (1) keeping condition of stop by invalidating operation by a destination floor designating part in an elevator car and an elevator button on a first designated floor as well as opening a door of the elevator car when the elevator stopped previously on the first designated floor; (2) conducting the above (1) operation thereafter when the elevator in lifting or lowering arrives at the first designated floor; (3) canceling lifting or lowering to the first designated floor and stopping at a second designated floor different from the first designated floor when the elevator is in a way to the first designated floor.
