PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a sponge having good sealing performances well balanced with processability, and to provide the sponge manufactured from it having good processability. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a sponge comprises 100 pts.wt. of an ethylene/α-olefin/diolefin copolymer satisfying conditions below and a softening agent in the ratio of 80-200 pts.wt. based on the copolymer. The sponge is manufactured from the composition having a Money viscosity in a specified range and has a specific gravity having a specific relation with it 100% modulus. An intrinsic viscosity [η] measured in a decalin solvent at 135 deg.C is within the range of 2.8-5.2 dl/g. The weight ratio of the ethylene component to theα-olefin component (ethylene/α-olefin) is within the range of 75/25 to 50/50. The content of the diolefin component is within the range of 10-50 in iodine value.
