Metered quantities of the fluorine source and of a mixt. of H2SO4, heavy oil and feed back acid wash from the reactor, are fed into a first part of the reactor. The second section has a vent for the HF vapour and there is a feed back for HF vapour from the third to the second section. Associated with the reactor are a scrubbing column with two stage condenser feeding separate collector tanks, and a rectifier column which in turn feeds an absorber column. By use of a regenerative loop process 95.5% pure HF is obtd. economically.
