PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable liquid composition containing 3-isothiazolone compound and without substantially containing metal salts. SOLUTION: This method for producing a liquid composition of 3- isothiazolone is to add and mix a hydrohalogenic acid salt of 3-isothiazolone compound to phenol and then blowing an inert gas into the mixture or reducing pressure and deaerating the mixture while heating.
