PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input/output system that can save power consumption of an image input/output device to the utmost. SOLUTION: The image input/output system applies power saving control individually to an input means, that receives image data and an output means that records the received image data onto a recording medium and outputs the data, and releases only the power saving state of the output means, when both the input means and the output means are in the power-saving state and an output request is made to image data supplied from the outside of the system.
