PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing machine for an electrophotographic printer, capable of performing a fixing operation in accordance with a printing speed of about 40 to 50 PPM such as that of a copying machine. SOLUTION: A thermistor 1 is arranged at a point B outside the maximum printing area, and constitutes a 1st temperature detecting means for controlling a temperature in contact with the coated surface of the heat roller 2. A thermistor 3 is arranged near the central part of the heat roller 2 in a noncontact state, and functions as a 2nd temperature detecting means with leaving a gap of about 1 mm between the heat roller 2 and the thermistor 3. Two halogen lamps 4 and 5 are assembled as heating sources inside the heat roller 2. The halogen lamp 4 functions as a heating source with a light-emitting area, having an effective length corresponding to the whole printing area and for printing a wide paper, and the halogen lamp 5 functions as a heating source with the light-emitting area, which is as wide as the vertically placed A4 sized paper (about 210 mm in width) and for printing a narrow paper.
