PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicolor image forming device, without causing image defects, such as a hollow character, while realizing a high efficiency transfer. SOLUTION: The device is constituted, so that a distance 'z' shown by expression 1 can be controlled with surface hardness of each constituting element by stress acting between respective constituting elements, since the relationship between hardness of an image carrying rotating body and the hardness of a transfer rotating body is such that the hardness of the image carrier rotating body is larger than the hardness of the transfer rotating body and the relationship between the hardness of the transfer rotating body, and the hardness of a recording medium is such that the hardness of the transfer rotating body is larger than the hardness of the recording medium.
