PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of obtaining information on the distance between this terminal and a previously registered opposite terminal even if lines of speech channels are congested. SOLUTION: On a terminal, a request to obtain information on the distance to a desired terminal is made by using a special number, etc. A center side once accepting the request manages information regarding the distance between the pair of terminals. When a request to register a position is made as the two terminals move, the information which is managed is provided over a standby channel. The terminal having received this information displays the received information.
