PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information reproducing device high in error correction capacity. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a data packet storage means, a user symbol substitution means which substitutes additional data to specific data under prescribed conditions, a comparison means which compares the first data part and second data part and sets a different symbol position to a vanishing position, a selection means to switch and output the first parity part and second parity part, an error correction means which switches error correction of only the data part or error correction of both the data part and additional data to perform vanishing error correction by the vanishing position detected by the comparison means. The comparison means and the error correction means perform the vanishing correction. Besides, when the data recorded on the additional data part are known, the substitution to the specific data is performed by the user symbol substitution means without using the read additional data.
