PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten latency until packet communication start and latency until refusal detection by accelerating LDP processing on an entire packet transfer network. SOLUTION: This packet transfer device has a first LDP multiplexing/ demultiplexing part 103 connected to a first transmission line 101, second LDP multiplexing/demultiplexing part 104 connected to a second transmission line 102, packet switch 107 provided between the first and second LDP multiplexing/ demultiplexing parts, switch connection table 106 for controlling the switch connecting state of the packet switch, and LDP processing part 105 connected to the first and second LDP multiplexing/demultiplexing parts and the switch connection table. The LDP processing part 105 processes an LDP packet demultiplexed by the first LDP multiplexing/demultiplexing part, multiplexes plural LDP packets for each of plural blocks dividing the packet transfer network, sends them to the second LSP multiplexing/demultiplexing part and updates the switch connection table.
