PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform the desired output work of a character recognition result. SOLUTION: When image information is inputted by an image input part 31, a character string in image information is recognized by a character- recognizing part 33. Then the inputted image is displayed in the display area of a display part 8 in a form, where it is divided into blocks at each character string by a block information display part 36. When the optional point of the display area where the image is displayed is designated by an image coordinate designating part 6, the recognition result of the character string displayed in the block, corresponding to the designated optional point, is outputted from a recognition result output part 41 to an output file 3C. Then a user outputs and obtains only the character recognition result of the desired character string from the displayed image, using a simple operation only those optional points which correspond to the block where the desired character string is displayed is designated.
