PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for a black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material which ensures controlled silver sludge and color leaving property and exhibits good dryability and good film strength after processing and a processing apparatus for the sensitive material used in the processing method. SOLUTION: In the processing method for the black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material in which the sensitive material with a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer on the base is developed, fixed and washed using an automatic processing machine with a developing tank, a fixing tank and a washing tank, the average molecular weight of gelatin in the sensitive material is <=1×104 and water containing hydrogen peroxide is used in the washing.
