PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a silver halide photographic emulsion excellent in pressure resistance and having low fog and to provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material using the emulsion. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion contains silver halide emulsion grains of >=0.15μm average grain diameter. In the method for preparing the silver halide emulsion, low molecular weight gelatin having an average molecular weight of 5,000-70,000 is used as protective colloid in the formation of the silver halide emulsion grains and flocculation desalting is carried out by using an organic precipitant or both organic and inorganic precipitants.
