The invention relates to a method for determining the wood panel properties and for controlling the wood panel manufacturing process which, after spectrometrically analysing the raw material or panels when their moisture content is less than 10 % and after comparing the spectral data with the reference spectral data of the material or of the reference panels calibrated depending on the known parameters of the panels made of the reference materials or panel by multidimensional analysis, controls the process variables which influence the panel parameters by correlating the spectral data in combination with the desired parameters and comparing this combination with the reference combinations based on the reference data of the reference material or panels, correlated with the known parameters of said material or panels, said reference combinations being calibrated depending on the known variables by the multidimensional analysis.
