PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage electronic warranties of equipment. SOLUTION: The DCM, FCM, and warranty FCM of a DVCR 3 are installed, an IRD 2 can brought the DVCR 3 under its control. The warranty FCM is used to access an electronic warranty stored in a nonvolatile memory of the DVCR 3. According to an instruction from a requester, the IRD 2 can store purchase time information and correction information on the DVCR 3 in the nonvolatile memory of the DVCR 3 through an IEEE1394 serial bus 1 and also read the purchase time information and correction information out of the nonvolatile memory through the IEEE1394 serial bus 1. |
