WORD LINE DRIVER AND WORD DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a word line driver in which access speed at a read operation can be improved without enlarging layout size and to provide a word line driving method. SOLUTION: This device is provided with many level shift circuits 200a-200n for shifting first level voltage responding to a programming/erasing signal externally applied in a first operation mode and for outputting shifted first level voltage to word lines WL0-WLn selected by a word line selecting signal, and many switching elements 260a-260n for transmitting a word line selecting signal having a second level in a second operation mode to the word lines WL0-WLn. Boosting voltage at the time of programming/erasing operation and read-out bias voltage at the time of data read-out are transmitted to the word lines WL0-WLn through the other path.
