PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device which has the frequency characteristic of high phase linearity, which can easily be miniaturized and which can easily be manufactured. SOLUTION: In a surface acoustic wave device, an input exciting electrode 21 and an output exciting electrode 31 are arranged on a piezoelectric substrate 1 in parallel, a surface acoustic wave is transmitted between the exciting electrodes and an input exciting electrode 21 side and an output exciting electrode 31 side constitute one-way converters having inverse directionality.
