PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an organic silver salt composition with enhanced productivity and to provide a heat developable photosensitive material which suppresses the rise of fog after development and has enhanced raw stock preservability. SOLUTION: In the method for preparing an organic silver salt composition, silver nitrate is added to an aqueous solution or suspension of an alkali salt of an organic acid to prepare an organic silver salt dispersion and this dispersion is immediately desalted and dehydrated by centrifugation or pressure filtration.
