Preparation of cetyl myristate and cetyl palmitate

A process for the preparation of a mixture of cetyl myristate and cetyl palmitate, which comprises: 1. Reacting myristic acid and palmitic acid with cetyl alcohol at elevated temperatures in the presence of at least one acid catalyst and at least one aromatic hydrocarbon; 2. Recovering the cetyl myristate and cetyl palmitate from the aromatic hydrocarbon fraction.
