PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in the transmission quality of an optical transmission system by the connection of 2R (reshaping and regenerating) optical repeaters to the system. SOLUTION: In the configuration of the 2R optical repeater 1000, an output of an inverter terminal (inverse of Q) of a fast comparator 5 is given to a light emitting element drive circuit 6. By the configuration above, the polarity (0 and 1) of an optical signal pulse given to a light receiving element 1 through an optical fiber L and the polarity (1 and 0) of the optical signal pulse sent from a light emitting element 7 to the optical fiber L are inverted to each other. That is, the leading and the trailing edges of the pulses are inverted to each other between the input and the output of the pulses. Thus, jitter produced in the light emitting element 7 is added to a potion of an optical signal waveform not including the jitter component resulting that accumulation of the jitter components at the leading edge of the optical signal can be reduced. |
