Linear or cyclic ureas of formula (I) are disclosed. Also disclosed is the use of such compounds as medicaments for preventing the development, extension and complications of atherosclerotic lesions, in particular for patients with a vascular risk factor (dyslipidaemia, diabetes, systemic arterial hypertension), for preventing vascular complications after vascular bypass, vascular dilatation, vascular repermeabilisation and heart transplantation or for treating myocardial or peripheral ischaemia, cardiac insufficiency and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
