PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder high in reliability and capable of high-density recording and a recording method. SOLUTION: This recorder is provided with a recording medium provided with a ferroelectric layer 13 and an electrode layer 12, a means 15 for irradiating the layer 13 with evanescent light and a means 14 for impressing voltage on the layer 12 through the layer 13.
