PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider capable of increasing the wear resistance of a projection provided in the medium opposing surface of a slider main body or a rail by improving manufacturing efficiency, and preventing the corrosion of a magnetic head core provided in the slider main body. SOLUTION: This magnetic head slider S is constructed in such a manner that a magnetic head core is provided in a slider main body 10, a rail is formed to generate a floating force in the medium opposing side of the magnetic disk 71 side of the slider main body 10, and the magnetic head slider is floated and traveled on the magnetic disk 71 to write/read magnetic information. In this case, a first carbon film 62 having corrosion resistance is formed via an adhesive layer 61 on the surface of each side rail provided in the medium opposing surface of the slider main body 10, projections 17 and 18 having an intermediate film 63 and a second carbon film 64 alternately formed are provided on the first carbon film 62, at least the second carbon film 64 of the outermost layer of the second carbon film 64 is provided with wear resistance.
