PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system capable of clarifying the connecting state of information equipment to be operated, a switching area to be operated, information equipment at the destination of switching, and information equipment to be switched and a method for controlling the information equipment. SOLUTION: This information processing system constituted of plural information equipments connected through a network to each other and an input device for operating the information equipment is provided with a display screen on which a picture is displayed by the information equipment, a switching detecting means for detecting that the information equipment to be operated by the input device is switched, and a display screen control means for controlling a display screen based on the detected result of the switching detecting means.
