PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a substitute module even for a module in which the information quantity of classification information to be set is large, and to allow an application side to recognize that the substitute module is being used or that the module is turned into a defective state. SOLUTION: At the time of notifying the classification of a module constituting a system to a host device when this system is started, classification information indicating that its own module is a dummy module is notified when a substitute module is used. In response to the notification of the classification information, the host device judges the classification information of the module to be originally mounted at the mounted position of the dummy module, and operates the allocation of an input and output area. Also, it is notified that the function of this system degenerates due to the failure of the module.
