PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system that can simply and surely set indication/non-indication with respect to its own telephone number onto a telephone system of a called party. SOLUTION: A storage section 3 stores telephone numbers which are classified into groups and also stores setting data, denoting whether a telephone number of its own telephone system is to be displayed to a telephone system of a called party by each telephone number group. When a key entry section 6 enters a telephone number of a destination, a control processing section 4 retrieves the data stored in the storage section 3, to discriminate whether the telephone number of the destination is registered in a telephone directory. When the retrieval indicates that the telephone number is registered, the control processing section 4 identifies the classified group of the telephone number and generates a setup message corresponding to the identified group. The control processing section 4 controls the operation of a base band signal processing section 2 and an RF signal processing section, so as to dial the generated setup message and to call the destination.
