PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in electric charge retaining performance, particularly the stability of potential retentivity in repetitive use as an electrophotographic photoreceptor using a reaction product of oxy-titanyl phthalocyanine and 2,3-butanediol as an electric charge generating material. SOLUTION: In a photosensitive layer containing a reaction product of oxy- titanyl phthalocyanine and 2,3-butanediol as an electric charge generating material, the half-width (Δ2θ) of the minimum angular position main peak (Bragg angle 2θ=8.3±0.30 deg.) of an X-ray diffraction spectrum to the photosensitive layer is controlled to the range of 0.25 deg.<=Δ2θ<=1.0 deg..
