PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing machine, by which fixing ability is improved and stabilized by decreasing the frequency such that a separation claw is brought into contact with a heat ray absorbing layer on the surface of a fixing roller, thereby preventing the heat ray absorbing layer from being damaged. SOLUTION: A spur member 78b, that is rotated corresponding to the contact of transfer material with the separating claw 78 arranged adjacently to the fixing roll 71, is provided, and the separating claw 78 can be moved between a 1st position and a 2nd position and a tip part of the separating claw 78a is abutted on the surface of the heat ray absorbing layer of the fixing roll for only a specified period of time.
