PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paste type nickel hydroxide positive electrode in which a homogeneity is maintained with property aspect such as a positive electrode weight at the start of application and the termination of application in a continuous application method using a paste for the positive electrode superior in the stability that ageing of viscosity coefficient is difficult to be generated, and obtain the alkaline storage battery which is superior in productivity with a little dispersion of capacity using this positive electrode. SOLUTION: Poly N-vinyl acetamide is made to be included in the paste for positive electrode containing a conductive agent of nickel hydroxide as the active material, the paste for positive electrode is applied on an electro- conductive base material, the paste type nickel hydroxide positive electrode 4 is prepared by drying, and the positive electrode and negative electrode of this paste type nickel hydroxide are loaded in a battery with a separator and alkaline electrolytic solution that are interveningly installed between these both electrodes, thus the alkaline storage battery is configured.
