PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively and efficiently interpreting and retrieving a uniform texture which can be used in a wide application range for inquiry to a multimedia retrieving engine, an electronic library or a medical picture and in the retrieval of pictures obtained by a remote sensor. SOLUTION: A texture descriptor is provided with a multiple resolution smoothing coherence parameter being the combination of a series of smoothing coherence parameters of the scales of different original pictures. The smoothing coherence parameters are numbers for describing the smoothness of a texture. On the basis of this smoothing coherence parameter, the texture is described by using a picture histogram, the parameter of a deformation GMRF model and features in a conversion domain. |
