PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device, capable of easily detecting whether an image forming unit set in a device main body is an unused unit. SOLUTION: This image forming device 20 is equipped with an image forming device body 1, a new-unit detecting device provided in the main body 1, a photoreceptor unit 2 freely attached to/detached from the body 1, a developing unit 3 and a cleaning unit 4. By coating the proper part of each unit with an organic dye film, a part to be detected is formed. A photosensor is provided as the new unit detecting device (detecting mechanisms 6, 7 and 5). The photosensor functions also as a light source for increasing the light reflectance of the part to be detected by conducting light irradiation. The light-emitting element of the photosensor acts as the light source, when the power of emitted light is high. In the case of using a new unit, the reflectance of the part to be detected is changed to a value higher than the initial value by the emitted light from the light source. Whether the set unit is new is confirmed by measuring the reflectance by the photosensor. |
